If you’re new here, or if you read my articles last season, my name is John Brubaker. I’ve been betting on MLB baseball games for four years, and this is my second MLB season working with RotoBaller. I’ve developed my own betting model to assist me in generating and identifying value on run lines, totals, and money lines. In this article, I’ll share my favorite MLB betting picks for Saturday, October 29, 2022. I’m constantly working to improve my models’ accuracy, and as the season progresses, I’ll share the data I have on my personal Twitter @LucidMediaDFS. If you haven’t already, please follow me and don’t be afraid to ask questions! My direct messages are always open. After that, let’s break down some baseball games. MLB Picks for Today – Astros @ OKBET Sportsbook Online

PHI +108 | Over/Under: 7.6

Lance McCullers Jr., Houston | Ranger Suarez, Philadelphia

We ended up pushing the Sunday play because the Phillies scored a few runs in the late innings. It might have been a tie if Kyle Schwarber hadn’t missed a home run by a few inches… twice. Nonetheless, we’re back at it today with my favorite World Series wager, a first-inning under.

Lance McCulllers Jr. (4-2, 2.27 ERA) will take the mound for the visiting Astros tonight. This season, McCullers has pitched well in the first inning, allowing no runs in each of his three road starts. The only time he allowed a first-inning run was against this Phillies team in Houston on October 3, when Kyle Schwarber opened the game with a home run.

The Phillies, on the other hand, will send Ranger Suarez (10-7, 3.65 ERA) to the mound. Suarez has also been effective in the first inning in 2021, allowing a run in only seven of his 28 starts overall and four of his 13 starts at Citizens’ Bank Park. He struggled against the Astros on October 4, allowing home runs to Jeremy Pena and Kyle Tucker en route to a five-run first inning for Houston, but he was lights out in Game 1 of this series against the Astros.

The first inning under is -113 at FanDuel Sportsbook, which I think is a great value for any playoff game. My model predicts a 59.9% chance of hitting in the first inning, or “true” odds of -149. We’ll take what we can get here, and I personally hope the Phillies can win a crucial Game 3 victory.

OKBET Sportsbook, 1 unit, pick: Under 7 (-114)
